Castle Bromwich Junior Bears

 The outdoor training have started and are becoming very popular already. Training is at the rear of Arden Hall from 5.30 - 7.30.

We are running U13, U12, U11, U10 and U 9 competitive sides this year.

So far the junior teams have not lost a game with the noteable scalp of Walmley u11b`s whom had not lost for over 12 months on monday evening.

Welcome to the start of our new season indoor training at Smithswood Sports Academy each Monday @ 530-630.

Firstly, costs from now until Xmas will be £20 per child, this covers hire of the gym and purchase of a few new pieces of equipment.

Secondly, all new members are welcome! ( If anyone has not completed a consent form, please see either Bernie or Mark).

We spoke last season about purchasing children’s cricket clothing and have made a start with training T-shirts @£6.50 each. These are ,white, “fruit of the loom” and are available in sizes: 5-6,28 in ;7-8. 30 in :9-11, 32in, 12-13, 34 in, 14-15. 36in,. There are also adult sizes, S 35-37,M38-40 and L41-43. Sadly, we do not have a sample to show you as we need to place a minimum order of 12 before we can get them at this price, so let Bernie know if you are interested.

We will take orders after Xmas for the match kit as we discussed previously. Juniors playing for the club should have matching kits so please resist buying other tops, as we hope to be able to sort this out in time for the beginning of the outdoor season

Finally, we are in the process of forming a parents committee, regarding the junior section and are looking for volunteers willing to input some new ideas and a bit of time, particularly parents from the younger children. Numbers are growing healthily, with girls and boys joining the youth section. We are hoping to set up an under 9’s team for next season to help strengthen the club for the future. With this view in mind, we are looking for another Coach to join us, possibly a parent that already spends a lot of time supporting their child weekly or maybe, just enjoy the sport.  During our first season we have managed to win four games so far which is obviously a complement to hard work from the players and our coaches. Our last game for the under 11’s against Nether Whitacre at home was a real “Nail biter”! it was won on the last ball. The single was hit by Harry Sweeney (good lad!)

 We are hoping to set up some friendly matches/competitions for all under 9’s, 10’s’ 11’s and 13’s during August to keep you all fighting fit so watch this space.
